August 28 at Bohemia

Justin sitting on the couch at an empty, pre-soundcheck Bohemia If you haven't had the opportunity to visit the new bohemia cafe & variety venue in downtown Edmonton, it really is an amazing place to hang out - let alone to play music in.

Lots of Shows!

Mystery Ponies Drum Kit

Well hello everyone! Just thought I would put up a post here and introduce myself being the newest member of this great band. I am very excited to be diving into the Edmonton music scene with my new friends and bandmates Sally, Pepe and Justin! I was officially sworn in near the end of may this year and I couldn't be happier. Now that I have 2 shows under my belt (and great shows I might add) I am looking forward to our next run of shows at Brixx and Bohemia again and I'm sure many more to come.

The Great Flood of '10

Me, rolling my pants up in ankle deep water in Edmonton's Studio City

Relatively speaking, obviously, seeing our Studio City practice space flood as a result of last night's storm was not that big of a deal. Nobody got hurt, nobody died, might as well go for a soda, or whatever.

But the panic of watching water creep up on all that equipment, combined with the chaos of the 4 or 5 other bands down the hall going through the same thing was really something to behold. In the end, thanks largely to the heroism of members from other bands, pretty much everybody saved most, if not all, of their stuff from ankle deep water.

August 6: Brixx Bar & Grill

So, last night, we were lucky enough to play at Brixx Bar & Grill, alongside two fantastic Edmonton bands, the Bridle Party (whose website is now burned into my brain because, like a douche, I screwed it up on our poster) & Dirty Picture Show.

What a great, noisy, sweaty time (TWSS). Sincerely, it was so hot in the bar, even with their giant industrial fan running, that I was sweating to an awesomely disgusting degree before we'd even played. Halfway through the set I noticed weird beige droplets on my sleeve, and looked up to see if the ceiling was leaking - but no, it was just me, a hot mess, dripping discoloured makeup sweat down the front of my dress.
